It is safe to say that Chelsea are worse in where they are now compared to where they were before in the EPL and despite changing most of their team players they are still the same place and even worse and one could consider these changes wasted billions and they are not wrong if they assumed so.
Coming to why we said that these are wasted billions, the image below shows players who have left and who replaced them and still same issue persisted;
Even by the loosest definition, only Rudiger, Silva, Chilwell, Fofana, Kovacic and Jorginho have been a “success” – although Rudiger, Kovacic and Jorginho had their ups and downs and Fofana has only played a handful of games.
That leaves free transfer Silva and Ben Chilwell, out of TWENTY TWO players bought, as unqualified successes.
That’s a shocking hit rate, spread between the old ownership and the new. The failures in there are obvious and we don’t need to point them out. A club can probably survive a 50% hit rate, but if you’ve dropped below 10% like we have, the whole rotten structure needs to be uprooted and replaced. Otherwise the cash will continue to flow out of the club.
