Former defender Gary Cahill believes Chelsea must stick to their task against Real Madrid on Tuesday.

The Blues have a small chance of overturning a 2-0 deficit from the first leg in Spain to progress to the semi-finals.

Cahill, who knows what it takes to win Europe’s premier competition with the Blues, admits beating such a juggernaut will be a tough ask for a Chelsea team in poor form.

On BT Sport, he said: “My message for what it’s worth is to go out and give it your all, manage the game in the early stages and leave everything out there.

“If you leave everything out there, then you can look in the mirror and say ‘I’ve done all I can do’.

“Leave everything on the pitch and give everything you can give.”
