Lampard addresses attacking football questions ahead of Arsenal clash; Here is the solution he gave.

Chelsea is not playing any form of attacking football and everyone knows this and when Lampard was asked about how he plan to attack Arsenal this night he said…

It was a surprisingly confrontational question given it’s an official outlet, with the Blues boss asked about his team’s defensive setup in their last two games, which have seen him use effectively two extra midfielders in place of two wingers or attackers.

As Lampard pointed out, he’s picking teams to help him win, not just to entertain:

“Do I want to play more free-flowing football? Yes. When I was here before people maybe thought we were almost too free-flowing at times. I know that when I looked at the underlying nature of how we were playing in my first season here, we had one of the highest xG totals in the league and one of the lowest xG against, but we were conceding more goals than we should have done. There are different reasons sometimes,” (he means Kepa).

“In this short term, I want to find consistency in our work but that has been challenging in five games. Sometimes you are having to put pieces of the puzzle together.”

We will see how he lines up tonight against a strong Arsenal side. The bad result against Brentford last week makes it feel unlikely that he goes with a strong team, but anything is certainly possible as he desperately looks for a good result.
