Mauricio Pochettino makes feelings clear on club’s ‘new Eden Hazard’; Heres what he said
Hutchinson joined Chelsea from Arsenal last summer and is a 19-year-old forward with huge promise. The Londoner has already made two appearances for Jamaica although he has yet to start a club match and has only played twice at first-team level for his club.
The teenage attacker made his Blues debut as a substitute in a League Cup loss at Manchester City and came off the bench against City in the FA Cup too. Chelsea are hopeful they have a star in the making on their hands in the under-21 talent, though.
After eight goals and 10 assists in 25 U21 outings, The Athletic report that Chelsea staff have likened his profile to club hero Hazard. That is due to his style of dribbling and his pace in possession.
Hutchinson’s mazy dribbling is reminiscent of the brilliant Belgian who was a nightmare for Premier League defences with his trickery in Chelsea blue. While his spell at Real Madrid was underwhelming, Hazard remains fondly remembered at Stamford Bridge as a two-time title winner and a provider of 110 goals, 92 assists and countless joyful moments.
Pochettino though is not yet ready to bring Hutchison into his first-team thinking. The Argentine, who only just took over at the club, has left the player and team-mate Harvey Vale back in England so they can arrange season-long loans to further their development.
It is unclear where Hutchinson will end up but a season in the Championship is plausible for the academy talent. He had been tipped to join West Brom in January after rejecting Wigan but never made the move.
