Why Hojlund is in an unfair situation at Man Utd

Former Newcastle United star, Alan Shearer in a recent statement claimed Manchester United attacker Rasmus Hojlund is in an ‘unfair situation’ at Old Trafford.

While Hojlund has scored five goals in four UEFA Champions League games this season, he is yet to score in nine Premier League appearances for the Red Devils.

The Denmark star missed two great chances during their 1-0 victory over Luton Town last weekend before he was forced off in the closing stages with a hamstring injury.

However, Shearer thinks Man Utd need to sign another striker to ease the burden on Hojlund.

“Well, he [Hojlund] has not set Old Trafford alight yet, has he?” Shearer told Premier League Productions.

“In terms of his performances, he’s certainly been better in Europe than he has been in the Premier League.

“I like his movement, yes, he is very raw. It is probably an unfair situation to be putting him in.

“Ideally, you’d like to drip-feed him in, put him in for one or two, bring him out, bring him on for half an hour, leave him out for the next game.

Man Utd reportedly interested in Benfica midfielder

Manchester United are already making plans for the players they could sign in the January transfer window.

A recent report from popular football transfer expert Fabrizio Romano revealed the Red Devils are interested in signing Benfica midfielder João Neves.

The reports revealed that scouts from the Premier League club were in attendance for the recent league clash for Benfica’s 2-1 victory at home against Sporting CP on Sunday, with the Red Devils keeping close tabs on the 19-year-old ahead of a potential January transfer.

The Red Devils are said to be waiting for potential board changes, and that could take place soon, with ESPN sources revealing recently that Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s partnership could be announced over the current international break.

Neves has been a key player for Benfica this season, with an impressive form that also saw him earn his senior international debut for Portugal last month when coming on as a substitute in the 5-0 win over Bosnia and Herzegovina.
