Breaking: World Cup winner has agreed to join Chelsea

Chelsea FC has been victorious on their return to Premier League action on Tuesday, beating Bournemouth 2-0 to end a run of five league matches without a single win.

The Blues now face a Forest side that was beaten by Manchester United last time out, and Potter will likely see the game as a good opportunity to build on their victory over The Cherries

The report has it that Chelsea could be close to signing one of the world’s most promising young players.

According to Metro, Argentina midfielder Enzo Fernandez has agreed to join the club.

The report claims that Chelsea has now entered into negotiations with the player’s current club, Benfica, over a potential deal.

The Portuguese side had previously insisted that he would only be sold if a club met the player’s £106 million release clause, which is believed to have deterred the likes of Liverpool and Manchester United.

Several clubs are believed to have shown an interest in Fernandez since his outstanding World Cup campaign, for which he was named the Young Player of the Tournament award winner.

The Blues have convinced the player to move to Stamford Bridge, though, and they must now work to agree on a deal with his current side.

The Premier League side is hopeful that the fact they have already reached an agreement with the player will encourage Benfica to agree to a lower fee.

Fernandez, 21, has already made 25 appearances for Benfica across all competitions so far this term, particularly impressing in the Champions League.

It is claimed that the player was already on the radar of several top European clubs before the World Cup in Qatar, and his performances at the tournament have increased the amount of interest in him.

Graham Potter will be looking to add at least one midfielder to his squad in the coming months, with both N’Golo Kante and Jorginho uncertain to be at the club next season.

The midfield duo are both set to be out of contract at the end of the current season and, with Mateo Kovacic’s recent injury record also a cause for concern, Chelsea will likely look for at least two new midfielders.
