After beating Crystal Palace a few days back this assumption was made by Veltman and it is something too up for a debate now.

Sitting bin the 7th place in the EPL table better off than Chelsea and Fulham it is safe to assume that they will do more better than Chelsea and eventually go to Europe and Chelsea might not.

While looking ahead, Veltman has taken a quick peek behind him at Chelsea and Fulham who are five and three points behind respectively but have played more games, warning them the Seagulls have the chance to increase the gap in the coming weeks.

Veltman said: “That’s true. Brentford won but we still have more games to play compared to Chelsea and Fulham, who are behind us. We can leave them behind a bit and looking up the table. But again, this [the game against Crystal Palace] was a final and we won this final so we will keep on going.”

Veltman added that the standards in the team are high, as they are not ‘really happy’ with being in sixth place knowing they could be higher in the table had they finished off games against Fulham and Leeds United in recent weeks.

Brighton conceded late to the Cottagers to lose 1-0 despite dominating the 90 minutes, while they went ahead twice vs Leeds but were pegged back on both occasions and ultimately shared the points.

“Yes, it’s strange. We are level on points with sixth-placed Liverpool and we are still satisfied. If you look at the games against Fulham and Leeds United. It’s crazy you are like nearly sixth and you are not really happy but that is because there’s a positive feeling in the group.”
