Chelsea captain Azpilicueta on Joao Felix signing; I was deeply surprised to say the least.

Chelsea captain Azpilicueta have said that he was surprised that Chelsea signed Joao Felix and he was not even thinking it was going to happen.

The Portugal star had a difficult start to his loan spell at the club, getting a red card and a three match ban.

However, he has served his sentence and was in action last weekend, scoring in a 1-1 draw against West Ham United.

Azpi stated to the club website this week: “I knew him from Atletico Madrid when we played against them, and also when I was watching their La Liga games. I was surprised when he arrived because of the quality he has.

“In training, at West Ham, he has shown the way he can turn and create space. He has been unbelievable in training. He has now scored, which will help his confidence.

“He has made a huge impact and I am looking forward to seeing him every day in the team and performing at such a high level.”
