Notwithstanding the fact that Chelsea has two top Goalkeepers and of course Mendy is serving his time out leaving only Kepa, this calls for a backup goalkeeper in any case Kepa sustains an injury and they are now looking into this.
Despite spending big sums in the summer recently gone, and again in January, the club still have a few pressing positions that they want to sign in this coming summer.
One of those has always been thought to be a new goalkeeper, but the questions has been whether they will be signing a new goalkeeper to come in and be more of a backup choice, or whether they go all out for a new number one.
And according to The Daily Mail, Kepa Arrizabalaga is deemed to have performed sufficiently so far, leaving Chelsea currently planning to prioritise bringing in a backup goalkeeper in the summer, rather than a new number one.
This will be greeted with disgruntlement from Chelsea fans, IF it is even true of course. There is a little way to go until the summer yet and the situation could change some more.
