Exposed: Here is the real reason Lukaku decided to leave Inter this Summer even when they want a permanent deal
Romelu Lukaku was reportedly unhappy with Simone Inzaghi’s decision to exclude him from the starting XI in the Champions League final.
Football Italia report that that this was a decisive factor with the forward choosing to ‘ignore’ Inter ahead of a proposed move amidst interest from Juventus has made front page news in Italy.
The Belgian looked destined for a permanent move to Inter this summer, after spending last season on loan at the San Siro and having been left out of Chelsea’s pre-season tour of the US.
However, despite previously stating that he wanted to continue his spell with the Nerazzurri beyond his current deal, Lukaku’s future now appears uncertain.
La Gazzetta dello Sport branded the ongoing transfer saga a ‘mess’, and noted that the move is an ‘incredible race against time’ dependant on Dusan Vlahovic’s future.
Meanwhile Il Corriere dello Sport reported that Juventus’ new sporting director Cristiano Giuntoli is preparing an offer for Lukaku, but the move would be contingent on the club selling Vlahovic.
Vlahovic has been linked with a move to PSG this summer, but Chelsea are also said to be interested in signing the Serbian forward.
Tuttosport added that Juventus have agreed terms with Chelsea over a move for Lukaku, with the deal set to be completed if Vlahovic joins the Ligue 1 champions this summer.
After disappointing on his return to the Premier League with just eight goals after rejoining Chelsea in a club-record deal in 2021, Lukaku returned to Inter on loan last season.
The 30-year-old forward notched 14 goals in all competitions as Simone Inzaghi’s side collected a domestic cup double and reached the final of the Champions League but unable to keep pace with runaway leaders Napoli in Serie A.
