Good News: Aubameyang return to Barcelona this January has been blocked: Here are details

A recent report has revealed that Spain has blocked Chelsea forward Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang from returning to Barcelona this January transfer window.

Barcelona are unable to re-sign the Gabon international from Chelsea this month due to Spanish league registration rules.

Recall that the former Arsenal striker joined Barcelona on a free transfer in January of 2021 and after just six months in Spain, he returned to the EPL to join Chelsea in a £12 million deal.

However, since his return, Aubameyang has struggled to make an impact at Stamford Bridge, scoring just three goals in 15 matches so far this season.

There are reports the 33-year-old star is open to leaving the west London side this month and reports in Spain claimed Barcelona would love to have him back.

Barcelona will, however, need to wait until the end of the season as Spanish rules prevent players from being registered twice by the same club in a single campaign.

Speaking in a press conference on Wednesday, Barcelona manager, Xavi said he was happy with his current squad when asked about the prospect of re-signing Aubameyang.
