Good News: Thiago Silva extends his contract with Chelsea which will see him above 2025.
With the most recent wave of players leaving Chelsea in the recent days and the new signings being reported, one Crucial player for the team just extended his contract.
This is a very good sight to behold as a Chelsea fan at least everything we are doing is not in vain as we still have Thiago Silva as our rock solid defender.
The Times had the story originally yesterday, claiming that the Blue were ready to offer the veteran another one year extension.
But Simon Johnson has clearly followed up and got the word that Silva is ready to accept the new offer.
“There is confidence a deal will be agreed soon,” Johnson writes.
It’s an easy decision for Silva and for us. He’s our best defender – and maybe our best player this season. Meanwhile he gets to live in London and build a reputation as a cult hero at a third club.
Thus far it’s been a dream having Silva at the club. He’s deep into his third season, and showing no signs of slowing down. He will be 39 by the time this newly offered deal expires – would anyone back against him getting another year on the end of that?
