In truth, it feels harsh to criticise Kepa for the Daka goal, with Joao Felix largely responsible after losing the ball in a dangerous position.

That said, the Spaniard didn’t exactly have his best game between the sticks either, completing only 20 of his 31 passes and registering no high claims and just one successful punch (Sofascore).

With Edouard Mendy still without a clear timeline for recovery after his finger surgery, Kepa is likely safe in his position for now, but he won’t want to make a habit of conceding similar goals ahead of Potter’s first full summer in charge, when he is sure to be handed a hefty war-chest by Todd Boehly.
