“I don’t look at rumours” – Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes gives his thoughts on Saudi Arabia transfer

Bruno Fernandes is the flag bearer of the Manchester United team. He is the captain, the talisman and the main source of inspiration for Erik ten Hag’s team.

Fernandes joined the club in the summer of 2020 and has since become one of the best players in the league. He is not without his critics though as the Portuguese international is often ridiculed for his antics with the referees.

In a well-functioning team, Bruno always seems to pull all the strings. The Portuguese midfielder suffers a lot when the team is not in good nick. This season has been a classic example of the latter situation.

There have been links of Bruno leaving the club and the fact that clubs in Saudi Arabia are interested in him. For all his quality, the lure of the middle-east clubs sometimes tends to shift a player’s focus in an undesirable way.

The 29-year-old is now on international duty with his country. Bruno almost always performs when playing for Portugal and that could be a consequence of his national team playing a brand of football that suits him perfectly.

Speaking with Sport TV Portugal, here is what Bruno Fernandes had to say about a potential Saudi transfer

“I’m focusing on the national team and United. I’m happy where I am. In the national team, we had some very good times, at Manchester United, we didn’t start the way we wanted. I don’t look at rumours. I don’t pay attention to them. Today, it’s very easy to spread rumours in the press. I prefer to concentrate on my goals”

Bruno Fernandes has seemed to reassure the United fans that he is committed to the cause and that he would remain at the club. That said, funny things have happened in football before and the Red Devils need to be wary.

United return to action against Everton who are reeling from a 10-point deduction and sitting in the relegation zone. The wounded tiger is always dangerous to face and the Toffees will not be an easy opposition to face.

Captain Bruno will be hoping to lead United to yet another win against Everton. Let’s wait and see how that fixture plays out.
