United star Victor Lindelof has admitted he would like to return to home country club Västerås SK before his career eventually comes to an end – which will be no time soon.

“I hope they are ready to take the step,” he told Fotboll Skanalen. “Västerås as a city I think needs to have a club in the highest league. It was about time. I hope that the people on the board and around have a handle on the situation so that they can establish themselves in the Allsvenskan.

“I have never played in the Allsvenskan and it is clear that it would have been fun to come home and play for a year in the Allsvenskan. Getting to come home and play with VSK would be a lot of fun. It’s my hometown. Should it happen that I come home, it is definitely at the top of the list.”

Transfer priorities

Fabrizio Romano has been discussing United’s transfer policy for next year as the January transfer window comes into focus.

“[There are] reports linking them with an interest in a winger and a right-back this January, but that’s not the information I have. As I recently said, I’m told their priority for 2024 is a centre-back,” he said on his Daily Briefing.

Romano added: “In my opinion they’re already well covered at right-back with Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Diogo Dalot.”
