Silva’s sloppy pass was cut off by his countryman and he made no mistake in putting the ball past Robert Sanchez to give the home side a 3-1 lead.

‘I’m devastated. It wasn’t a good day for us.’ The centre-back said.

Taking to his instagram account he added:

I’m devasteted. It wasn’t a good day for us. I would love to apologize to everyone for the defeat especially to my teammates who beleive in me amd support me everyday. I take full responsibilty. Let’s gather strength and come back stronger🙏🏿💙

Newcastle opened the scoring in the first half through Alexander Isak, before Chelsea drew level through a Raheem Sterling free-kick.
