Joao Felix was not happy when he was subbed off for Conor Gallagher and he has been open about it as much. You could see the anger in his face when he was subbed off and that’s anger.

The Blues had some dreadful luck early on, but a goal before half time lifted their anxiety and in the second they played some great stuff.

Joao Felix had a good hour but was taken off as he tired. He clearly thought he had more to give – he muttered to himself the whole way as he trudged off, and while he shook his manager’s hand and didn’t make too much of a fuss, he wasn’t happy. This was some Diego Simeone treatment, as far as he was concerned.

Graham Potter wouldn’t have changed a thing however. Felix, replacement Conor Gallagher was brilliant, and his introduction brought Chelsea’s best period of the game.

His energy brought his team up the pitch, and created more chances than Felix’ fading artistry, which had run its race.
