Fresh injury update on Chelsea Number 1 Goal Keeper Eduardo Mendy emerges; Potter Speaks.

Chelsea have been going in between games loosing drawing and sometimes winning which does not happen often and the much goals conceded could be as a result of Mendy’s absence from the team.

Potter has a pretty short list of injury questions to deal with at the moment – at least compared to how it has been in the past.

There are a few players out with long term problems, but in terms of those who can return in the next week or so, there’s only one he was asked about in today’s press conference – Edouard Mendy.

The keeper lost his place when Potter first arrived, and only got his first starts under the new coach just before the World Cup when Kepa hurt himself. Now the Spaniard is back, and Mendy has a slight problem, as Potter explained:

“He’s been training a little bit more than he was. He’s not fully fit at the moment but hopefully the next week or so he will make progress,” the coach said in quotes picked up by Football.London.

It sounds like he will be back soon – but only to sit on the bench, barring a relapse for Kepa.

This is all made more complicated by Mendy’s contract standoff. If Kepa does well and keeps his place, Mendy may only feature a couple more times this whole season. That makes negotiating a new deal exceptionally difficult.
