In his press conference today, Graham Potter was asked to assess how he thought Sterling was getting on as a Chelsea player.

“It’s been a challenge for him but it’s been a challenging period for everybody,” Potter said in quotes picked up by Football.London.

“There’s been a lot of change and a lot has happened, so in that regard, it’s not easy to completely settle or hit the ground running. There is more to come from Raheem I’m sure but he gives his best every day and we need to help him get to the level we know he can reach.”

We’d have to agree with that assessment, and it really lines up with what our expectations were with Sterling. He’s not the kind of player who will win you a game on his own all the time, but when the team around him is firing he’s a dangerous weapon to have.

So far the team haven’t been good and neither has he – but that could change at any moment.
